Celtic's majority shareholder Dermot Desmond has once again talked up the prospect of an Old Firm move to the Premiership, insisting that both his side and Rangers would drastically improve the league.
Desmond insists that Celtic are one of the world biggest clubs, but was unable to hide his frustration at the prospect of being forced to stay in the Scottish Premier League, where their only realistic rivals are Rangers.
The Irishman said, "Until they (the Premiership) invite us, their league won't be as good as it would be with Celtic and Rangers. I think if you did an independent survey the overwhelming response would be that we would enhance the Premier League or any other league."
"Even to the Bundesliga, Serie A or La Liga two major clubs in European football would bring a lot. It's not a bit frustrating to be up here. Change will happen whether it happens in Scottish football, British football or in European football," Desmond insisted.
"We have to concentrate now in Scotland and in Europe. As long as we are in Europe then people want to stay with us. We go to America this summer and are playing against Manchester United, considered one of the biggest football clubs in the world, and European champions AC Milan. Why are they playing Celtic? Because Celtic are a big club."
Desmond also insisted that, despite losing out on the League and the UEFA Cup at the final hurdle, this season was a success for the Parkhead club. "To reach a European cup final and for a Scottish football team to perform asthey did in Europe, particularly against premier clubs, demonstrated that we have a fantastic football team, a tremendous manager and the best fans in the world," he insisted.
