Rangers manager Alex McLeish admits Dundee defender Zurab Khizanishvili is one of his summer signing targets - but insists that does not necessarily mean the player will join the Ibrox club. McLeish revealed he is in constant dialogue with chairman John McClelland and director of football business Martin Bain about the new players he wants to bring to the club.
He has his eye on one or two targets but insists it would be wrong to assume that Khizanishvili is an automatic replacement for Lorenzo Amoruso, who is set to leave over the summer. McLeish said: "Now we must look forward and I am already looking ahead to finding the additions I need."
"Every agent wants to put someone in now and it would be great to be organised and put the kettle on well in advance but I don't think that's the right strategy. There are going to be a lot of players up for grabs before the season starts. Zurab is a player we are interested in but that is as far as it has gone at the moment."
"We are still negotiating with his agents and I have never said where he will play for us. People are being presumptuous and he might not even come here to Rangers."
