De Boer confident of facing Celtic

Ronald de Boer claims he has an excellent chance of being fit in time for Sunday's Old Firm thriller against Celtic. The Rangers playmaker is boss Alex McLeish's only real doubt for the potential title-decider at Ibrox on Sunday. But the Dutchman insists he is winning his battle for fitness after a calf injury.

He told the Daily Record: "My recovery from injury is going really well. As it stands I would expect to have an excellent chance of being fit for the match with Celtic. I cannot be 100% certain I will make it but I am getting there. I would say my chances are 80-20. I have been getting treatment from the staff at the club on my calf injury all week and they have done much to help me work my way towards being fit for the match."

Meanwhile, Blackburn boss Graeme Souness has admitted that de Boer's brother, Frank, is also a signing target as well as Ibrox team-mate Lorenzo Amoruso. The former Rangers boss has made his interest in Italian defender Amoruso known already but now insists he could be tempted by Barcelona star de Boer instead.

Souness said: "I am interested in several players and it is fair to say that Amoruso is one of them. I have a list of five possible targets and Frank de Boer is another name because I need an experienced centre-half to play beside the young boys we have in defence."
