Agathe says fans need more understanding

Didier Agathe claims hard-to-please Celtic fans will have to learn that criticising individual players only has a detrimental affect on the Parkhead team. The French wing-back, along with midfielder Neil Lennon, has borne the brunt of the Parkhead boo-boys' frustrations in recent games despite Celtic still being in with a shout of glory in the SPL and in Europe.

And the amiable Agathe insists the pressure from the Parkhead stands can be so intense at times that it's often easier to turn in good performances away from home.

He said: "If Celtic lose or even draw then the fans are first to blame the players. We won't criticise the supporters but they need to be educated to learn more about the game and about players' confidence. Neil and me play in different positions but the fans should understand that if they boo and shout at players, it can affect their confidence."
