Republic of Ireland striker Clinton Morrison has ruled himself out of action for the remainder of the season with a dislocated shoulder. The Birmingham player sustained the injury in Saturday's derby clash with West Brom and is expected to see a specialist next Tuesday before having an operation to pin the joint, which will sideline him for eight to 10 weeks.
That means, he will miss out on Birmingham's final seven Barcalycard Premiership matches of the season plus Ireland's two Euro 2004 qualifiers with Georgia and Albania.
Morrison was distraught at picking up the injury. "I am really devastated. My season is over and I will miss a lot of important games. The timing of this is awful because I enjoy playing for Ireland and will miss playing for Birmingham City too," he said.
"The only consolation is I know what this injury is all about because I dislocated my left shoulder when playing for Crystal Palace. Once I've had the operation, I will have a sling on for four to five weeks and then I can start working on the injury. But I will be out for eight to 10 weeks. I will be back though. Hopefully we can stay in the Premiership and I can't wait until next season," he added.
