England game gets green light

The English FA have confirmed England's Euro 2004 qualifier against Liechtenstein will go ahead. UEFA had demanded assurances on safety from the Liechtenstein Football Association by 11am today before giving the green light for the match to go ahead in Vaduz.

The Liechtenstein FA (LFV) appear to have provided safety guarantees for the England team, staff and supporters in the tiny principality.

UEFA had been alerted to concerns about Liechtenstein's ability to cope with the possibility of the match being used as a platform for anti-war demonstrations.
