Lambert hails triumphant Celts

Celtic captain Paul Lambert believes that his side's 2-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield last night has finally put to rest claims that the Hoops are not unable to compete with the 'big boys.'

Goals from Alan Thompson and John Hartson gave Celtic a 3-1 aggregate victory and handed them a very realistic chance of picking up their first European trophy since their European Cup triumph in 1967.

After the victory, a jubilant Lambert could not resist a swipe at Scottish football's detractors and said, "It's not bad for a Mickey Mouse league. That's us done Blackburn, Liverpool and also a top German and Spanish team."

"We don't fear anybody now - that's what happens when you keep producing these results. Whoever we get is going to be tough, but we've now got a chance of winning it."

Lambert already has one European medal after he won the European Cup during his time with Borussia Dortmund, and he now has his sights set firmly on a UEFA Cup medal. "I was lucky enough to have won the European Cup before and when you get this far in Europe you get yourself a reputation and you want to keep winning," he said.
