Veron willing to stick with United

Argentinian midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron has pledged to see out the remainder of his contract with Manchester United.

While occasionally impressing for United in recent times, Veron has rarely done enough on the pitch to warrant his £28.1million price-tag in Premiership clashes, and he has come in for some criticism from both the media and supporters during his time at Old Trafford.

Paradoxically, the midfielder has been a revelation in the Champions League, where he is given more time to dwell on the ball, and has been one of the main reasons that United have already booked their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

In an interview with the Manchester Evening News, the midfielder said "Six months ago, things were not going as I hoped they would. But nowadays I am very happy and I think I will see out my contract with United."

Veron also insisted that his, and his team-mates minds, are firmly focused on progressing in Champions League warning that it would be 'dangerous' to begin day-dreaming about the final at Old Trafford. "It is dangerous to start imagining you are in the final. It just makes it an even tougher blow to take if you don't get there," he said.

"We have shown a superb level of consistency to reach the quarter-finals soearly and we need to keep that going. Last year we found it really tough to get through but we can't afford to relax now. Tomorrow's game is not a friendly and we must approach it with the same attitude we have shown from the outset of the competition."
