Norwich missed out on the chance to climb back into the Division One play-off places after Rod Wallace's second-half strike ensured the Canaries left Priestfield empty-handed. Gillingham, themselves with an outside chance of finishing in the top six, looked the more likely to claim all three points, but seemed to be heading for a share of the spoils as the match drifted into the closing stages.
However, Wallace was on hand to register his fourth goal in as many games with a typical predatory finish after 75 minutes to see The Gills through 1-0.
In the night's other Division One game, Wolves and Watford drew 0-0 at Molineux.
