Fulham breeze past West Brom

Fulham took a step closer to Premiership safety and increased the relegation worries of West Brom after they beat the Baggies 3-0 at Loftus Road.

West Brom managed to hold out for 70 minutes and at times, looked like breaking the deadlock themselves, but were left blitzed by three goals in five minutes from the Cottagers. Louis Saha headed home in the 71st minute before Cameroon international Pierre Wome smashed in a brilliant strike from 30 yards to double the advantage.

Three minutes later Neil Clement bundled Saha to the floor and left the referee no choice but to point the spot and award a penalty. Steed Malbranque netted from the resulting spot-kick for his eight goal in six games.

The result means that Fulham are now 12 points clear of the drop-zone and almost certainly clear of the relegation dogfight, while West Brom remain third from bottom and four points from safety.
