FA Cup Round-up

Southampton booked their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup by overcoming a luckless Norwich 2-0 at St Mary's today. Two late goals in a four-minute spell by Anders Svensson and substitute Jo Tessem was enough to see off a gritty Norwich display.

Elsewhere, the misery continued for Premiership bottom side Sunderland, who lost 1-0 at home to First Division Watford through a controversial second half penalty. Tommy Smith's initial effort was saved by Thomas Sorensen but the referee ordered a re-take and Smith shot home the second time. Howard Wilkinson's men attacked desperately, but to no avail.

Meanwhile Sheffield United had the easiest time of it in their all-First Division game against Wallsall, winning comfortably 2-0 at home with goals from Tommy Mooney and Peter Ndlovu.
