Reading took advantage of the inactivity of most of their rivals from the top half of the first division today, winning 2-0 at Millwall to climb to fourth place. With leaders Portsmouth visiting second-placed Leicester City on Monday, and another four sides involved in FA Cup action, Reading had the day to themselves.
They took full advantage by beating mid-table Millwall with a shot just before halftime by Nicky Forster and a 25-metre effort by Darius Henderson 10 minutes from time. Millwall had been on top in the opening 15 minutes but ended up needing some good goalkeeping by Tony Warner to keep the score down.
The result keeps Reading in the promotion hunt as they seek a place in the top flight for the first time in their 132-year history.
