Third Division Rochdale claimed the biggest scalp of the FA Cup fourth round when the beat First Division Coventry 2-0.
Coventry, who have not lost a game in their last ten, came undone at Spotland thanks to a fine strike from £150,000 record signing Paul Connor just after the half-hour mark, and a 47th-minute header from Gareth Griffiths.
There was no such shock at Carrow Road where Norwich managed to squeeze past non-league Dagenham and Redbridge, thanks to a last gasp goal from substitute Zema Abbey. The result was harsh on the Daggers, who have made a name for themselves thanks to their giant killing exploits over the past few seasons.
Norwich had enjoyed the best of the play but had been unable to capitalise on their possession, and indeed, it was Dagenham that looked most likely to score as they threatened on the break. However, with the game looking set for a scoreless draw, Abbey scored the crucial winner from close range after Adam Drury's cross was deflected into his path.
It was a case of another late goal at St Mary's Stadium, when substitute Kevin Davies spared Southampton blushes against Millwall. Steve Claridge's 17th minute effort looked to have sealed the Lions' place in the fifth round draw, but Davies struck with just two minutes to go, to earn the Saints a replay at the New Den.
Sheffield United continued their good cup form with a 4-3 win over Ipswich. United, who were knocked out of the Worthington Cup at the semi-final stage by Liverpool during the week, had substitute Paul Peschisolido to thank for their FA Cup victory. Peschisolido scored from close range with just a minute to go after Ipswich had fought their way back from being 3-0 down.
"I've got to take my hat off to the lads, they don't know when they are beaten. I thought Ipswich were in control until we scored the first, second and third goals - I suppose that's the magic of the FA Cup," said United manager Neil Warnock.
Premiership strugglers West Brom had hoped to escape their league woes with a cup run, but an 80th minute winner from Heidar Helguson ended the Baggies Cup hopes and send Watford into the fifth round draw. It was rough justice on West Brom, who look to have secured at least a replay when Russell Hoult saved a penalty from Neil Cox in the 56th minute.
Wolves enjoyed a relatively straight-forward passage into the next round with a 4-1 victory over Leicester. Two goals a-piece from George Ndah and Kenny Miller were more than enough to cancel out Paul Dickov's effort for the Foxes. Burnley won by the same margin, beating Brentford 3-0 - Robbie Blake, Paul Cook and Glen Little were all on target for the Tykes.
