Joe Kinner has claimed that he turned down the chance of being interviewed for the vacant Irish managerial role, insisting that he "doesn't do interviews."
The Luton manager was not interested in talking to FAI headhunter Bryan Hamilton, who was given the task of drawing up a short-list of potential candidates for the Irish role.
The former Wimbledon boss said "He asked me if I would go on a shortlist and be interviewed along with seven or eight other people, and I said no. If they don't know what I'm capable of doing, why interview me? I've done enough in my life. If they want to give me the job they can, but I don't do interviews."
This is the second time that Dublin-born Kinnear snubbed the FAI, after he previously turned down the chance to take over from Jack Charlton in 1996, as he felt he was not being offered enough money.
