Tottenham boss Glenn Hoddle hailed the magnificent contribution of Robbie Keane to his side's 4-3 victory over Everton, insisting such a display was 'waiting to happen.'
Keane's hat-trick gave Spurs the edge over a resilient Everton side, and Hoddle singled out the Irish striker for special praise. "I've got to say that has been waiting to happen. He's had his chances before, but he was clinical and scored a magnificent hat-trick of pure quality and might have had a couple more," he said.
"It was a great exhibition of clinical finishing which we want him to improve on and he's showing now that he's capable of that. I don't think I've ever worked with a player who creates for himself, as well as the chances that we create for him, as many chances," the former England manager added.
"If we can get his ratio up which I think will happen with time and hard work, there's no reason why he can't become that clinical finisher. The most valuable thing for us was three points and I was very pleased with the manner we did it in the second half - great character, great play and what a magnificent hat-trick"
Meanwhile, Everton manager David Moyes refused to be downbeat after the match and said "This was a marked improvement on the game last week and that's a plus from the game that we take. I would be worried if I was fifth from bottom of the league, but we are sixth from top."
