Arsenal to sign Swiss youngster Djourou - report

Arsenal will sign Swiss teenager Johannes Djourou at the end of the season, Swiss daily Blick reported today. Djourou, who plays for Etoile Carouge in Switzerland's third division, caught the eye of Arsenal last year when he played in the Swiss team that won the Under-17 European Championships.

The 16-year-old midfielder is reported to have signed a contract until 2005. Etoile Carouge were not immediately available to comment. Djourou spent a spell on trial at Arsenal last year after being invited by the club's academy director Liam Brady, making the squad for one reserve game.

Servette defender Philippe Senderos, captain of the successful under-17 side, confirmed in December that he will also join Arsenal at the end of the season.
