No Man City move for Fowler - report

Manchester City's hopes of signing Leeds striker Robbie Fowler appear to have ended after he refused to take a pay cut. It is reported that City and Leeds had agreed a £7m fee for the player. But Fowler will not accept a cut on the £50,000-a-week he is paid by Leeds and Kevin Keegan won't risk player unrest in his squad by breaking the club's pay structure.

Nicolas Anelka is City's highest paid player on £35,000-per-week and Keegan is understood to be concerned that his senior players would want more money if Fowler's demands were met. If Keegan fails to sign Fowler, another option is believed to be Germany's Miroslav Klose, who scored five goals at the World Cup finals.
