Harry Redknapp has strengthened Portsmouth's defence with the signing ofArsenal's Stathis Tavlaridis on loan for a month. Key Pompey defender Arjan de Zeeuw limped out of the New Year's Day clash with Watford and Tavlaridis will come in as cover.
The former Greece Under-21 international will go straight into the side to face Manchester United in the FA Cup third round.
Redknapp told www.pompeyfc.co.uk: "We needed to act quickly and have. He's a big, strong lad and a very good player."
The 22-year-old made his Arsenal debut against United in a 4-0 Worthington Cup win for the Gunners last season but has had little chance to show his worth in the first team this season.
