Portsmouth remain five points clear at the top of the Nationwide Division One despite a 1-1 draw with Stoke City. Brynjar Gunnarsson put struggling Stoke ahead after 33 minutes but Harry Redknapp's side got an equaliser through Jason Crowe with just sixteen minutes to go.
Afterwards, Redknapp praised Stoke's performance and said they are too good to be relegated. 'It was a great point in the end. Stoke played as well as anyone has done against us in the first half. They were bright and lively, picked up all the second balls, and we were fortunate to be still in the game.
'I switched our system because I had to. I decided we needed to play with more width and I demanded more from my players,' said Redknapp.
Elsewhere in Division One, Leicester kept up the pressure on Portsmouth with an impressive 4-1 win over Millwall. Nottingham Forest and Norwich slipped up in their pursuit of the leaders with Forest going down 1-0 to Bradford and Norwich losing 2-0 at Crystal Palace.
Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton remain rooted to the bottom of Division One after defeats by Gillingham and Derby County respectively.
