Shelbourne have closed the gap on Eircom League Premier Division leaders Bohemians after a 2-0 win over St Patrick's Athletic. There are now just four points between the two Dublin sides although Bohemians do have a game in hand.
Shels were made to wait by St Pat's but goals from Jim Gannon after 80 minutes and Stephen Geoghegan on the stroke of full-time secured a vital three points for Pat Fenlon's side.
Elsewhere in the Premier Division, UCD eased their relegation worries with a 1-0 win over Shamrock Rovers.
