Hutchinson could play against Ireland

Scotland manager Berti Vogts has pencilled in West Ham striker Don Hutchinson for an international comeback against the Republic of Ireland in a friendly next year. Hutchinson suffered a serious knee injury while playing for his club and is only just back in the reserves as he continues to make his recovery.

However, Vogts is eager to bring him back into the international fold as soon as possible and is hopeful that he can give Hutchinson a run-out in the friendly against Ireland.

"I hope he maybe joins us in the squad and maybe I can give him 10 or 20 minutes or even a half. Maybe I will go to London after Christmas and watch him in the reserve team. West Ham need him also. They lost again on Monday night. He is a very aggressive striker and, because Stevie Thompson is suspended for the next qualifier, I would like to have a look at Stevie Crawford and big Don in the centre. We really need the experience of big Don."
