Republic of Ireland star Damien Duff is set to return for Blackburn Rovers in the UEFA Cup second round, second leg tie against Celtic. Duff missed the 1-1 draw against Southampton because of a knock. Celtic hold a 1-0 lead going into the Ewood Park clash, thanks to a late strike from Henrik Larsson.
Manager Graeme Souness is eager to see Duff team up with strikers Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke more regularly. “If you look at our season so far our three most exciting players have not played together for any length of time.
“These three players excite me when I see them train. Hopefully they can get a run of games under their belt. We have several big game players, who should relish the occasion when we play Celtic,” he added.
Souness says Blackburn will play bright and positive football. “Our strengths are going forward and going after teams. We will try and play the same way as we did in Glasgow. But I expect a very different game. I expect Celtic to try and stop it being a game like it was first time round. I expect us to be aggressive going forward and hopefully aggressive when we are defending,” he said.
