Craig Bellamy returned to form to guide Newcastle into the last 16 of the Champions League with a breathtaking 3-2 victory over Feyenoord in Rotterdam. Bellamy opened the scoring in first-half injury time and then blasted home the winner in the final minute of normal time after Feyenoord had clawed their way back from a 2-0 deficit.
Hugo Viana's 49th-minute strike had put his side into dreamland at 2-0 up, but goals from substitute Mariano Bombarda and Anthony Lurling set up a nail-biting finish.
Bellamy passed up a series of chances after the equaliser as tension grew but he was on hand in the 90th minute to follow up Kieron Dyer's saved shot to score the winner from a tight angle and send the 3,000 travelling Geordies into raptures.
That, coupled with Juventus' 3-1 victory over Dynamo Kiev in the Ukraine was enough to cap an astonishing turn-around and propel Robson's men into the big time.
Bellamy's late winner was his second goal of his comeback game following a knee injury and strike partner Alan Shearer said, "Craig's a big player for us. When he's out we miss him because he's got pace - there are not many defenders who can catch him.
"He scored two very big goals for us tonight. He were worried about his knee. We're thankful he's okay and firing on all cylinders because we're not as good a team without him."
