Bellamy could return for Champions League tie

Newcastle manager Bobby Robson could recall striker Craig Bellamy for tonight’s crunch Champions League Group E tie away to Dutch side Feyenoord. Bellamy has missed the last six games with a recurrence of his knee injury, but could force his way into the starting line-up after making rapid progress in recent days.

A win, coupled with a positive result for a weakened Juventus side in Kiev would send the Magpies into the last 16, while a draw, whatever happens elsewhere, would land them the consolation prize of a place in the UEFA Cup.

Robson said: “We need to get into the lead. We're not bad coming from behind sometimes, but we can't do it all the time. The team that scores the first goal psychologically has an advantage and after that, can we play well enough to not only hang on to it but build on it?”

Feyenoord, who won the corresponding fixture at St James’ Park in September, will be without the injured Pierre van Hooijdonk and the suspended Shinji Ono, while skipper Paul Bosvelt is also struggling with a calf strain.
