Speculation continues to mount over the future of Mick McCarthy. The under-fire Republic of Ireland manager is scheduled to meet with the FAI later this week, however a specific date and time for that meeting have still not been disclosed.
It has been suggested that the FAI may waive the clause in McCarthy’s contract which entitles the association to compensation should he join a club side. This would make it more attractive for a club to employ the former Millwall manager and, therefore, possibly reduce the value of the severance package he may demand from the cash-strapped body.
McCarthy is due to make an appearance on RTE Television’s Late Late Show on Friday night.
