Celtic boss Martin O'Neill Martin is that Bulgarian international skipper Stilian Petrov will extend his stay at Parkhead and sign a new contract.
Petrov, how has two years to run on his current deal, has been in fine form this season and will take centre-stage against Blackburn in tonight’s UEFA Cup clash. But once that distraction is out of the way, Petrov is expected to sign a new contract.
His manager, O'Neill said "We're going to try and finalise his contract talks that we had some time ago that went on hold. I am very hopeful and I don't think the difference between the two sides is massive. It should have been dealt with and these things linger on."
O'Neill is keen to sing the Bulgarian's praises and added "Stilian arrived here as a very young lad and he didn't know a soul and it's to his eternal credit that he bas battled through all those things. People didn't see the best of him earlier in his career and he had to overcome all those things as a young kid who had never been out of his own country."
