Manchester United's captain Roy Keane is expected to return to training within two weeks as he continues to recover from his hip operation. Alex Ferguson had previously stated that he expected Keane to be back in action six weeks after the operation, but that has now stretched to two months.
However, the 31-year-old's return to United's first team may well be hampered by an FA ban for ' bringing the game into disrepute' following comments made in his controversial autobiography.
In his book, Keane alluded to the fact that he intentionally fouled Manchester City's Alf Inge Haaland in an act of revenge and his FA hearing will take place on October 14th, with a lengthy ban and a substantial fine looking likely.
Elsewhere Alex Ferguson will be buoyed by the news that defender Wes Brown is also close to a return to action after breaking his ankle. "Keane and Brown will be back training within a couple of weeks and playing again within a month," the United boss said.
