Bolton boss admits his mistake

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce admitted after last night's shock Worthington Cup defeat to Bury that he made a grave mistake by fielding a team of mainly reserve players. The Bolton boss gambled by resting many of his first-choice players and lost as Third Division Bury now progress to the next round.

"It's very disappointing and very upsetting for me as I picked that side as I believed it was good enough to win," he explained. "Our fans paid good money to be entertained and they have been let down. I have to take that on the chin and take the blame, but these players were telling me they were bursting for an opportunity and were good enough for the first team. They have let themselves down, the fans down and let the club down," he added.
