Longford up to third spot

A 1-0 win at home to Bray Wanderers leaves Longford Town in third position on the eircom Premier Division table. The only goal of the game was scored by Eric Levine on 34 minutes and although Longford had Barry Ferguson sent off on 50 minutes, they managed to hold on for victory.

Meanwhile, in the eircom Division One action tonight, Galway United, Finn Harps and Kildare County all secured three points. Galway defeated Limerick FC 1-0 at Terryland Park with Alan Murphy's 47th minute strike the highlight of a disappointing encounter.

It was all one-way traffic at Ballybofey as two second-half goals from Kevin McHugh in the 52nd and 80th minutes secured victory for Finn Harps over Kilkenny City. Kilkenny keeper David O'Neill produced a string of fine saves to keep his side in touch but Harps proved just too strong for the visitors. They are now up to second in the Division One table.

At Station Road, new boys Kildare County moved off the bottom of the table with a 1-0 win over Sligo Rovers. Ray Scully scored the only goal of the game on 15 minutes.
