Fabrizio Ravanelli's agent has confirmed that Portsmouth have made an offer to Derby for the former international striker although the club themselves have denied their interest. Manager Harry Redknapp is looking to strengthen the First Division club's squad but insisted today that he has made no move for the former Italian international.
A club spokesperson said: "The club haven't spoken to anyone at Derby. There has been no offer. Assistant manager Jim Smith knows Ravanelli from his time at Derby, but that's as far as it goes. Harry is looking to strengthen his squad, but we don't know where this story has come from."
However, Giovanni Palladini has stated this afternoon that his client, currently in Italy recovering from minor ankle surgery, will consider the move on his return to England. "I have spoken to (Portsmouth assistant manager) Jim Smith and we have reached an agreement, but until Fabrizio evaluates it nothing will be done. Fabrizio returns on Monday," he revealed.
"He is very happy at Derby and wants to stay there. However, if Derby cannot afford his wages due to their financial situation then he may have to make a sacrifice and leave," added the agent.
