The East Anglia derby between Ipswich and Norwich at Portman Road finished all-square at 1-1. Pablo Counago scored a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser for the home side, slotting home the second rebound after Darren Bent's spot-kick had first hit the post and keeper Robert Green then parried the follow-up from Darren Ambrose.
Scottish defender Malky Mackay headed Norwich into the lead 12 minutes from time when goalkeeper Andy Marshall, who had done so brilliantly throughout the game, failed to hold a long ball and the loose ball found Paul McVeigh on the right and his cross back into the box was headed home by Mackay.
Ipswich had looked the side more likely to make a breakthrough and this late goal spurred them on all the more but with only minutes remaining, it looked like Norwich would snatch all three points. However, it wasn't to be as referee Paul Durkin pointed to the spot for a handball against Adam Drury. Although Ipswich failed to score from the penalty, the made no mistake with the second follow-up, much to the delight of the home supporters.
