Celtic's Mjallby out for three months

Following their first defeat of the domestic season, Celtic have been hit with the news that Swedish international Johan Mjallby will be out for up to three months with cartilage problems.

A recent scan has shown that Mjallby has suffered some significant wear and tear to his cartilage and has been told that the least he can expect is 12 weeks on the sidelines, however the club are less optimistic of a speedy return.

A Celtic spokesperson said "The results have shown that there has been some ligament damage to Johan's knee and the diagnoses is that he will be out for three months."

The Hoops will certainly be with the Swede's services for the Old Firm derby on October 8, and he may struggle to be fit in time for the December 7 clash at Ibrox.
