Rio injured as United beat Boca 2-0

Rio Ferdinand limped off and Carlos Tevez was sent off as Manchester United came through their ill-tempered 'friendly' with Boca Juniors in comfortable fashion. A first half brace from Ruud van Nistelrooy was enough to ensure a home win but Ferdinand's chances of making the Champions League qualifying tie with Zalaegerszegi in Budapest on Wednesday looked slim as he appeared to twist his ankle after 25 minutes.

Ferdinand received instant treatment but was unable to continue, threatening to leave manager Alex Ferguson with a huge hole to fill, with Waterford's John O'Shea likely to fill the void if required. David Beckham continued his return to full fitness with a typically all-action display.
