Robbie Fowler is expected to be out of action for the next 10 weeks after undergoing surgery on his troublesome hip. Fowler was sent home from Leeds United's pre-season tour of Australia after suffering a recurrence of the niggling hip injury, which threatened his World Cup place and a scan revealed that the problem required surgery.
Doctors shaved a piece of cartilage from his hip and he will now miss the opening weeks of the season leaving opportunity for Robbie Keane and Michael Bridges to impress new coach Terry Venables.
