At the RSC, Waterford entertained Limerick in a thrilling game, which the home side won on penalties. Wayne Fitzgerald opened the scoring for the Waterford after 39 minutes only to see Steven O'Flynn level the scores on 51 mins.
The game then went to extra-time and Kelvin Flanagan was on hand to put the home side up once again with 95th min penalty before Leehy scored an own goal to send the game to penalties. Waterford held their nerve and go through to the next round thanks to a 4-2 shoot-out victory..
Meanwhile at Buckley Park, Kilkenny City and Athlone met again, following their scoreless draw on Friday and they had to wait until extra time for a goal. Then there came two in quick succession from Aiden Mooney and Stephen Murphy to put Kilkenny in the driving seat before O'Connor wrapped things up with ten minutes to go.
