FAI Cup round-up

Derry City recorded their first win of this summer season with a 3-1 victory over Drogheda at Oriel Park. Liam Coyle and Mike McLoughlin put the Candystripes 2-0 within the first half hour, but Dempsey gave United a life-line just before the break. In the second half however Derry were clearly the better side, and a 50th minute goal from Martyn secured the win.

At Belfield Kildare went down narrowly to UCD in their first ever FAI Senior Cup game. Robert Doyle was the hero for the students scoring two 1st half goals to put UCD through.

At Richmond Park St Pat's and Galway played out a thriller. Galway went two goals up in the 1st fifteen minutes thanks to Mark Herrick and a header from Declan Sheridan. Martin Russell scored from the spot to give Pat's a chance and Paul Osam equalised with a header in the second half to bring the game to a replay.

At Turner's Cross Cork demolished non-league side Glenmore/Dundrum 9-0. John O'Flynn scored a hat-trick for Cork City, with Billy Woods also scoring two in the game.
