Martin Keown extends career with Arsenal

Arsenal defender Martin Keown has extended his career with the Gunners for another two years, keeping with the Premiership champions till 2004. Keown started his career as a trainee at Arsenal in 1984, then moved on to Everton and Aston Villa before he returned to Highbury in April 1993.

Many Premiership clubs were interested in signing up the talented defender, but the former England international revealed that there was only one club he wanted to play for. "I'm delighted it's all been sorted out. There was no way I wanted to leave and that became obvious," said Keown on the Gunners web-site.

"Arsenal where aware that other clubs were interested in me and I don't think that surprised them. But I wanted to stay and they wanted me to stay. Now it's been resolved I can start looking forward to next season, " added Keown.
