Seaman to carry on for another season

England goalkeeper David Seaman has hinted he will not be hanging up his gloves just yet despite his disappointment at going out to Brazil in this year's World Cup. Seaman broke down on the pitch immediately following England's exit because he felt so much to blame after conceding Ronaldinho's freak free-kick goal. He has since admitted he contemplated quitting the sport in the aftermath of that match but it now looks like he has changed his mind after he admitted he is involved in ongoing negotiations with Arsenal.

"I'm having talks with Arsenal. We're negotiating at the moment so that's a big step in the right direction," he said. "I'm enjoying my football still. What happened at the World Cup was a big setback but you've got to keep with it as a goalkeeper. It's like Oliver Kahn found out - you can have played a great tournament and then he makes a mistake and that's what people remember. But I definitely want to carry on. I'm leaving my options open and I will just play and see what happens."

"I feel positive and I just want to get the Arsenal contract sorted out and keep playing for another year if I can keep the quality going," added the Gunners star. "It's hard when your team-mates retire and my time will come, but not just yet. I'd like to say a big thank-you to all the people who helped lift me and change my mind really. It was so disappointing but they've been great, wishing me well and telling me to carry on and it means a lot to me."
