Brazil have returned to the top of the FIFA World Rankings following their World Cup victory over Germany in Yokohama last Sunday. Rudi Voller's runners-up in Japan and Korea have climbed six places to fifth position in the rankings, while the Republic of Ireland have moved into 14th place from 15th after their second round exit on penalties to Spain.
The Brazilians are now in front of Argentina and France, joint second, while World Cup quarter-finalists Spain moved up four places to fourth. England have also climbed four places to eighth after reaching the quarter-finals before going out to Brazil.
