Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires is keen to sign a new deal with the double winners. The French star was in talks about a new deal when he received a knee injury in the FA Cup quarter-final win over Newcastle. His injury was a major blow for all concerned with the Gunners, his season was cut short and he was forced to miss the World Cup finals for his country.
Pires, who has two-years left on his current deal and plans to extend it by a further year, is hoping a new deal can be agreed when he meets Arsene Wenger this week. "I will be seeing the manager this week and I cannot see any problem. Arsenal want me to stay and I want to stay at the club. Hopefully, it will be sorted out very soon," said Pires.
