Hartson expected to stay at Celtic

Celtic striker John Hartson will not be leaving the Glasgow club according to his agent. It had been suggested that Hoops boss Martin O'Neill was ready to listen to offers for the former Arsenal and West Ham player. Hartson is currently attempting to digest the shock news that he was no longer wanted after his agent had been informed of the decision.

The 27-year-old joined Celtic early last season and weighted in with 24 goals in a championship winning campaign. The £6 million signing from Coventry was originally bought as an alternative to established front pairing Henrik Larsson and Chris Sutton.

Sutton spent much of the season at Parkhead on the injured list and returned in the back end of the season playing at centre-back as Hartson continued to play up front with Larsson. But Hartson's representative Jonathan Barnett insisted this was not the case, "It is absolute rubbish".
