Bowyer back on transfer list

Lee Bowyer has been placed on the transfer list for the second time by Leeds United chairman Peter Ridsdale. Bowyer, 25, says he would have preferred to stay at Elland Road if he felt he still had the board's support.

Bowyer said, "My decision not to sign a new deal has nothing to do with money, or me wanting to make a so-called career move. And I have no problem with the manager, the staff, my team-mates or the supporters, who have been the ones who have really stayed behind me throughout my time at Leeds.

"I know I will be fortunate to get such support elsewhere, but I feel I am being pushed out and was not surprised to hear that the chairman was placing me on the transfer list again. I have placed on record my thanks for the support he displayed during the trials, but his attitude seems to have changed over the past six months and I can only guess why that is."

Liverpool and Arsenal have both been linked with moves for the former Charlton favourite, but Bowyer's solicitor David Geiss isn't too optimistic of a quick transfer.

He said, "Lee's a very good player and I think money is tight all around the Premier League at the moment so we will just have to wait and see. There's been no approaches to us at the moment, but we'll wait and see what happens over the coming weeks."
