Ipswich may get UEFA Cup place

Ipswich will find out today whether they have earned a return to the UEFA Cup despite their relegation from the FA Barclaycard Premiership. European football's governing body grant UEFA Cup spots to three countries in the top 18 of their Fair Play league.

Ipswich only finished fourth in the Premiership Fair Play table but, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle all earning European spots by virtue of league position, they have the chance to return to UEFA Cup competition.

George Burley's side won a UEFA Cup berth in their first season back in the top flight but crashed out at the hands of Inter Milan as Town sank back into the First Division.
