No deal yet for Bowyer

Leeds midfielder Lee Bowyer is still no nearer signing his next five-year contract, which has now been on the table for the last five months. Bowyer stated at the weekend he wants to stay at Elland Road, but only if the club agree to his wage demands, which are understood to be £25,000 per week.

Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale met with Bowyer's representative, accountant David Geiss, in London today as negotiations continued. But the future of Bowyer, who has one year left on his current deal and continues to be linked with a £15million move to Liverpool, remains unresolved.

With Ridsdale due to head out to Switzerland tomorrow for the European Under-21 Championships, it is unlikely any further talks with Geiss will take place until next week at the earliest.
