Arsene Wenger singled out Thierry Henry for special praise following Arsenal's victorious ending of their double winning season yesterday. Henry claimed the Premiership Golden Boot ahead of Alan Shearer and Ruud van Nistelrooy following his double strike in the Gunners' 4-3 victory over Everton, and Wenger claims that he is happy with Henry even if he's not scoring.
He said, "For someone who was initially convinced that he is not a typical goalscorer, that is amazing. Some strikers who have not scored for a while make you play as if you have 10 men but with Thierry it's always as if you have 11 as he provides so much. That's why I never put him under any pressure when he's not scoring."
He also took time out to praise Lee Dixon who finished his Highbury career on a high yesterday, saying, "Lee has been a tremendous help to me and a tremendous player for the past 14 years at this club. Hopefully, he will stay on in football as he is a tremendous character."
