Republic of Ireland Under-20 manager Don Givens was furious with his team's first half display as their Toulon Festival campaign began in defeat today in Nimes. Japan inflicted a surprise 2-0 reversal on the highly rated Irish side, hitting two goals in five minutes just before half-time.
Afterwards, Givens described aspects of his side's play as 'complete garbage'. Ireland play their second match of four in Group B on Thursday against a formidable Italy side who are fancied to go all the way.
