A call from a number of Arab countries for Israel to be suspended from International soccer was rejected at a meeting of UEFA's executive committee on Wednesday. UEFA President Lennart Johansson said, "We will continue to monitor the situation in Israel and follow the guidelines laid down by the United Nations.
"We will consider each one on a match-by-match basis but there are no grounds for a suspension at this stage. The matter will be discussed in due course by the FIFA executive committee, possibly on May 3, and it is expected to endorse UEFA's position. Israel have been heavily criticised internationally for their West Bank offensive launched at the end of last month.
