Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has said defender Joos Valgaeren's season could be over as the player awaits another hernia operation. The Belgian international could now also find his dream trip to Japan and South Korea for the World Cup has ended too.
O'Neill had allowed Valgaeren to rest the injury as the season approached its finale. But the Parkhead boss has conceded a second operation is in the offing, which would scupper his chances of a World Cup appearance. "Joos thinks he has a hernia on either side of his pelvis" said O'Neill in the Celtic View.
"We don't know the exact details yet but he is going back to Germany to see the specialist and he may require another operation. If an operation is needed, then we have no choice but to go with it. If that is the case, then he would be out of the Scottish Cup final while his chances of making the World Cup will also be much slimmer", added the Irishman.
