Blatter under fire from UEFA Chief

UEFA president Lenart Johansson launched an unprecedented attack on FIFA president Stepp Blatter's credibility, accusing him of exposing the body to financial uncertainty and running a one-man show. Blatter is hoping to win a second four-year term in office but Johansson believes another victory could see the European game marginalised.

Blatter is set to hold a key meeting with FIFA General Secretary Michel Zen-Ruffinen in Zurich later today on the allegations of financial impropriety, which have rocked the world governing body. Blatter now faces heavy competition from Cameroon's Issa Hayatou while Johansson has written to all 51 UEFA member associations hoping to swing support behind the new challenger.

"I have worked hard to ensure that Europe plays a proper role within FIFA. However, it is my duty to inform you that this has become increasingly difficult due to the behaviour and actions of the current president", Johansson was quoted in the Daily Mail.
