Hodgson appointed new UAE coach

Former Blackburn, Inter Milan & Swiss National coach Roy Hodgson has signed a two-year contract with the UAE Football Association to coach the country's national team. Hodgson coached the Swiss through the 1994 World Cup finals in America and will help establish the UAE side over the next two-years.

UAE failed to qualify for the World Cup finals in Japan and Korea this summer and only won one match in January's Gulf Cup. But Hodgson does have past experience of the UAE as he first visited the area in 1992 when the Swiss national side played the UAE senior and Olympic teams.

"I have a good chance to do something good for the UAE football. A new phase in my coaching career has begun. I have been in the profession for over 25 years and all I have to think is to establish myself in the Gulf region as I did in Europe”, said Hodgson.
